Comparison Shopping Engine Helpful Resources |
Following are links to website with useful information on how to get started with, and manage, comparison shopping engine campaigns:
Website Magazine recently did an article on comparison shopping engines and the benefits to online retailers. The article includes survey results on the top sites as well as consumer use of CSEs to find products they’re looking for. The article may be found at http://www.websitemagazine.com/content/blogs/posts/pages/comparison-shopping-engines-reviewed.aspx.
A little old but still quite relevant, this Blog post provides “22 Tips for Optimizing Comparison Shopping Feeds” based on the experience of Leigh Vosler from Sierra Trading Post. There are a number of small efforts that can be made to add up to significant returns. The post is located at http://www.rimmkaufman.com/rkgblog/2007/07/24/feed-optimization/
Another Blog site, “ClearSaleing” has some good posts focused on optimizing the results from CSE’s, what to look for in a provider, and some great figures on typical conversion rates from the CSEs. The blog is at http://www.clearsaleing.com/blog/archives/category/comparison-shopping-engines/.
SmartMoney recently ran an article (targeted at consumers) reviewing the major shopping sites and helping consumers discern the best places to find deals on the products they’re looking for. All of the sites reviewed are in the list supported by CORESense. The article is available at http://www.smartmoney.com/spending/deals/which-comparison-shopping-site-is-best/.
The RetaileCommerce blog posted an item recently describing the overall benefits of comparison shopping engines. To prove the value, the post includes a number of keyword searches and shows the shopping sites that come up within the first few pages of search results. The post is here http://www.retail-ecommerce.com/2008/08/comparison-shopping-engines-offer-more.html.
“Shopping Search Engines: Six to Consider” highlights the ones this author feels are the top of the heap. We don’t currently support MSN (which is number six, ahead of Google Base) but we nail the rest. The posting is here http://www.practicalecommerce.com/articles/731-Shopping-Search-Engines-Six-To-Consider.
The eCommerce Optimization blog talks about all things eCommerce and has a great listing of all shopping sites with descriptions and key links. That can all be found here http://www.ecommerceoptimization.com/comparison-shopping-listing-guide/.

I was impressed at how CORESense was everything we needed in one solution. It wasn't necessary to piece together our business with software X doing this function, and software Y doing this other function.
